Active Adventure Residential Camps

active adventure activities bannerSSG’s Active Adventure Residential Camps are specifically designed to offer a back to basics rustic residential experience that allows schools to bring groups closer to nature and the outdoors in a cost effective and authentic residential experience that is tailor made for Key Stage 2/3 year groups.

Many residential camp options are based around high level individual activities that come with top end pricing structures and lack authenticity in relation to the overall residential experience. These activities are also often unattainable or accessible for younger age groups looking for an option for their first experience away from home.

SSG’s fantastic Active Adventure Residential Camp’s provide groups with the opportunity to experience a combination of stunning natural countryside camping together with rustic traditional adventurous activities, all delivered by experienced and highly motivated staffing team. Most importantly we work directly with your school to ensure that the residential experience is specifically tailored to your own requirements meaning you get ownership over the key aspects:

  • Choose your own activity options to best suit your groups age, target outcome and demographic
  • Select your length of stay with us
  • Great home cooked food options and LOADS of it!
  • Spacious tents providing schools with options around children’s accommodation groups

All camp customers are able to build their own residential from the ground up by selecting from a range of day activity options depending on the length of stay and the specific outcomes that you as a school wish to extract from the camp. An experienced manager will support you in choosing your options to ensure you have full understanding of options during a free of charge needs analysis meeting.

Daytime options available:

  • The Matrix: A team building activity day sees children working in teams taking part in a series of team building challenges including nightline, spiders web, unexploded bomb, countdown, neros tower, cross the swamp, drainpipe challenge and more! Teams will win time tokens that they can then use to gain advantage over opposition teams in the race up the MATRIX board!

Schools are also able to replace some of the lower level activity sessions with some of our higher level activities including

  • climbing walls
  • adventure obstacle courses
  • Archery
  • Laser Combat
  • Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting.
  • Wild Survival: Groups are shown and taught the basic skills involved in camp cooking, den building, fire making and navigation before being challenged in a race against one another and time to set up camp after identifying equipment along a navigation course.
  • High & Mighty: Groups get the opportunity to take part in a series of off the ground challenges ranging in height from our low ropes courses with teams supporting each other traverse valleys, to our Tarzan swing rope over ravines, our terminator turmoil obstacle course and finally cliff our friendly but amazing climbing wall experience.
  • Hot Shots: A target driven day of activities bringing together a series of exciting activities including archery, rifle shooting, sling shots, cross bows and laser clay pigeon shooting (activities chosen in line with age and request of customer group).
  • Wet and Wild: Groups will spend the day on or in the water taking part in canoeing, raft building and leaky pipe challenges!

Evening Activities Available (some activities not suitable for younger age groups):

  • Camp Fire Experience – groups will gather round the camp fire and take part in a series of songs, marshmallow roasting, camp games, hot chocolate and stories. A fantastic end point for the residential and highly recommended for the last night of camp!
  • Bug Hunt – Groups will explore the undergrowth in the woodlands and identify local bugs, creepy crawlys and creatures ticking them off the list as they go!
  • Wacky Races – A series of wild and wonderful races incorporating obstacles, equipment and dress ups.
  • Rounders Tournament – A good old fashioned fun filled team game of rounders! Great fun in a relaxed environment incorporating a variety of inclusive versions of rounders.

Groups are provided their own camping village with a specifically designated teachers tent as well as staff access to a centralised facility tent offering round the clock access to kitchen facilities, teas and coffees and a few home comforts.

active adventure residential camping activitiesEach visiting school will have an exclusive experience with us not having to share activity with other schools and will have a designated staffing team. (note there may be other schools on site)

Our staff are key to the experience and each schools groups will be pre allocated (by the school) into working tribes and each tribe will work with a specific tribe leading team member who has a focus on building relations, trust and understanding of their tribe to ensure that each member of the tribe feels welcomed, important and at home with us at SSG.

We also understand that communication with parents and guardians is essential and as such with all residential camps booked we offer a free of charge parent and student evening presentation at the school ahead of camp to provide information and offer opportunity for Q&A.

Upon booking schools will be allocated a specific Schools Account Coordinator who will look after the school in the build up to camp, we provide staff with a step by step survival guide including all of the relevant paperwork and actions required to organise your trip from a staffs perspective ensuring your build up to camp is as smooth a process as possible.
