The SSG Skills Academy

Our SSG Skills Academy is a perfect pathway for young people that are seeking to identify their preferred career route.

Our courses provide opportunity for both personal skill development and identification linked to core skills required to progress into higher level provision such as confidence, communication, leadership, presentation skills and team working traits as well as employment related skills that are identified by employers.

We offer both a foundation and intermediate course and provide a regular progression pathway for learners to access both as well as progress into advanced level vocationally specific courses with us.

All course options also include access to Maths and English lessons and qualifications which is a mandatory requirement for any students that have not achieved a C-Grade/4 (or above) or equivalent.

Student Requirements

We love working with students that are keen to develop as individuals as well as identify sustainable and exciting careers in the future. Our Skills Academy courses are perfect for people that are keen to access higher levels of education or that are seeking to develop skills or a CV ready for access to apprenticeship or employment direct.

You should be aged between 16 – 19 years old. There are pre enrolment requirements based on prior learning and attainment and these can be specifically seen in the FAQ’s for each course in the links above.

No matter your prior educational status we have an access point for provision within our Skills Academy pathway. You just need to be committed and determined to work hard be a fantastic person and enjoy your time with us.

What Will You Achieve & Progress To?

By progressing through the Sport Academy with SSG you will gain the following tangible outcomes from your course(s):

  • An accredited recognised qualification (see specific course FAQ/Information table)
  • Formal work experience and contacts for further mentorship, apprenticeship or employment
  • Math’s and/or English qualifications at Level 2 (where prior learning requires)
  • Progression opportunities in to higher level provision with SSG or other providers

We will also help you to identify career pathways objectives and milestones ensuring that all of our students have a clear and achievable plan to support them in to employment or higher education upon completing their course.

Enrolling Onto A Course

To secure your place on one of our programmes within the Sports Academy follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Contact us via website, phone or email

Step 2: Choose the right course – We will provide you with appropriate information and advice to help you select the most appropriate course for you based on your aspirations and prior learning. You can do this over the phone with a member of our team or alternatively you can access an in person meeting with us at our weekly advice and guidance sessions.

Step 3: Complete an Application Form – Once you have selected the correct course you will need to complete an application form and submit it to us for processing. Application forms can be provided to you via email or in person.

Step 4: Conditional Offer – Once your application form has been processed you will receive a conditional offer pack (as long as your application is accepted and we have capacity on the programme). This letter is our commitment to you that we have allocated you a place on the course ahead of enrolment. *Note at this point you become liable for course costs should you fail to attend.

Step 5: Course Enrolment – You will be provided with an enrolment session date to come in and meet your tutor, collect your timetable and complete enrolment pack paperwork. This is usually a week in advance of your course starting.
